Brief History
The Jazz band was started in the Spring of 2007 based on membership interest. Their first concert were they played only one song for PRIDE Interfaith in 2007, PRIDE and the organizations 5 year concert. Several of the members had never played jazz before but stood up for the challenge. Moving forward to Spring 2008 concert - In the Mood for that Big Band Sound brought the jazz group to mainstream with them highlighting 3 pieces. Its offical this group will be performing a lot more years to come.

What to play jazz but never have?
Don't worry most of the members hadn't either. That is why it is so important for the organization to have our musical staff able to teach new styles of music. So if you always wanted to learn, but never had the chance. Come Join the jazz group would love to have you.
I noticed the band does not a have a Bari Saxophone Why is that?
The band had been borrowing a past members instrument. That member needed it back for ther personal needs. Bari Saxophones cost upwards of $3000 and above. It is very expensive for a person to own their own. The MAFB would like to provide this instrument so that the jazz group would have the complete sounds it deserves.
